The Company

We are a busy business based in Galway city centre, seeking an organised and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join our team on a part-time basis. This is an on-site role requiring the successful candidate to work from our city centre premises for all scheduled hours.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including purchase and sales ledgers

  • Process invoices, receipts, and payments in a timely manner

  • Reconcile bank statements and petty cash

  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable

  • Assist with VAT returns and liaise with the company's accountant on tax filings

  • Monitor cash flow and flag discrepancies or issues

  • Prepare monthly financial summaries and reports for management

  • Maintain organised, compliant filing systems (digital and/or physical)

  • Ensure compliance with Irish accounting standards and Revenue requirements

  • General administrative support related to financial operations as needed

Essential Skills Experience

  • Proven experience in a bookkeeping or similar accounts role

  • Strong working knowledge of bookkeeping software (e.g. Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, or similar)

  • Solid understanding of Irish tax and payroll requirements (VAT, PAYE/PRSI)

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general IT literacy

  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail

  • Strong organisational and time-management skills

  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities

Desirable

  • A recognised bookkeeping or accounting technician qualification (e.g. IATI, ATI, or equivalent)

  • Experience working in a small or medium-sized business environment

  • Familiarity with Irish employment and Revenue Online Service (ROS) processes

Requirements

  • Must be able to work on siteat our Galway city centre location for all contracted hours — this role does not offer remote or hybrid working.

  • Right to work in Ireland
