Role Introduction:

Established in 1992, Applegreen is a leading convenience roadside retailer in the Republic of Ireland, the UK and the US in both large-scale Motorway Service Areas and Travel Plazas, as well as smaller petrol stations. The business has grown to over €3BN in annual revenue, operating 600 Motorway Service Plazas and forecourt sites internationally and employing over 16,000 people.

Applegreen is in a rapid growth phase and, to support this ambition, we are seeking to appoint a Commercial Analyst Buyer / Junior Buyer to assist with the commercial and operational performance of the coffee team. This role reports to the Commercial Coffee Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

As Applegreen expands, the responsibilities will evolve and change over time. The core responsibilities will centre around the following areas:

1. Commercial Analysis & Insight
  • Build, maintain and continuously improve BI dashboards and reporting tools to track sales, margin, pricing and performance KPIs
  • Analyse performance across sales, margin %, ATV, product mix and site performance and translate into clear commercial actions
  • Support forecasting, budgeting and performance tracking across the category
  • Identify trends, risks and opportunities and proactively make recommendations
  • Provide board-ready summaries and insights for senior stakeholders

2. Reporting & Data Management
  • Own and manage all core reporting outputs (weekly, monthly and ad hoc)
  • Extract, clean and structure data from multiple sources to ensure accuracy and consistency
  • Deliver automated and scalable reporting solutions using BI tools
  • Maintain data integrity and governance, ensuring one version of the truth
  • Build user-friendly dashboards for cross-functional teams (Commercial, Ops, Finance, Brand)

3. Pricing & Commercial Support
  • Support development and maintenance of pricing models, including margin analysis and cost/ retail tracking
  • Track and validate supplier pricing (€/kg, rebates, cost movements) in line with open-book agreements
  • Model impact of pricing changes, promotions and cost fluctuations

4. Buying & Supplier Management / NPD pipeline
  • Support and manage day-to-day buying activities across allocated product areas
  • Raise and manage purchase orders, pricing files and supplier communications
  • Track cost prices, volumes and supplier performance
  • Support negotiations with data and cost analysis
  • Ensure product availability, continuity of supply and issue resolution
  • Maintain accurate product, pricing and supplier records
  • Lead out on managing a strong NPD pipeline in coffee, food and merchandise from research to launch


5. Cross-Functional Delivery

The Candidate should have the following:

Qualifications, experience & skills
  • Minimum of two years' experience in a commercial analyst, data analyst or similar role (ideally within retail, foodservice or FMCG)
  • Advanced Excel skills(must-have), including:

o Complex formulas (INDEX/MATCH, XLOOKUP, SUMIFS)

o Pivot tables and data modelling

o Scenario modelling and forecasting
  • Proven experience building and managing BI tools / dashboards (e.g. Power BI, Tableau or similar)
  • Ability to extract, manipulate and interpret data from multiple sources
  • Strong commercial awareness with understanding of margin, pricing and cost drivers
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy
  • Experience with buying, procurement or supplier management (desirable)
  • Exposure to open-book pricing models or commodity-led categories (desirable)
  • Understanding of foodservice or coffee category (desirable)
