Skills, competencies and/ or knowledge
a) Demonstrate the ability to provide a level of clinical care required by this post according to the standards set by statutory bodies such as the Medical Council, College of Psychiatrists of Ireland and the Consultants Appointments Unit.
b) Demonstrate a high level of verbal and non-verbal communication skills in order to effectively communicate with Patients, colleagues, hospital management, other hospital staff and stakeholders from other institutions.
c) Demonstrate leadership and team management skills including the ability to manage his/her staff and service and work with multi-disciplinary team members.
d) Demonstrate evidence of effective planning and organisational skills including awareness of resource management.
e) Demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of the current governance structures and anticipated changes with the establishment of the Hospital Groups.
f) Demonstrate evidence of computer skills
Health
A candidate for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.
Character
Each candidate for and any person holding the office must be of good character
Age
Age restrictions shall only apply to a candidate where he/she is not classified as a new entrant (within the meaning of the Public Service Superannuation (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 2004). A candidate who is not classified as a new entrant must be under 65 years of age on the first day of the month in which the latest date for receiving completed application forms for the office occurs.
