The Lilly Kinsale manufacturing operation is located in Dunderrow, close to the historic and

scenic town of Kinsale, Co Cork. The mission of the Kinsale facility is to support the commercialisation, manufacture and supply of many of the newest medicines in Lilly's portfolio. Production of medicines commenced in Kinsale in 1981 and today the manufacturing campus in Kinsale employs around 1,200 people and uses chemical and peptide synthesis, and biotechnology manufacturing processes to make active ingredients for medicines across all therapeutic areas referenced above. The site also works in close partnership with the Lilly global research and development function in the areas of process development and optimisation across all three manufacturing platforms.

The TS/MS Lab Student placement offers students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience supporting technical and strategic initiatives across the biotech business, working alongside Upstream, Downstream and Analytical scientists in the laboratory to generate data, support laboratory activities and contribute to projects that enable process improvements. The role includes exposure to the TSMS manufacturing function and provides experience working within cross-functional technical teams.

During the placement, the student will actively work in the laboratory and be exposed to a variety of roles and functions as part of a cross-functional team, including but not limited to online Operational Support, Process Safety, Quality, Regulatory, Deviation Management and Investigation, and Project Work. Working alongside the TS/MS Team will enable the student to employ their existing knowledge and expand it further, while also participating in training, field tours, volunteer activities and networking events that will enhance their learning and development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Duties will include practical involvement in supporting activities around laboratory-based experimentation, support of day-to-day tasks, and any project-specific activities as appropriate. Other activities will be flagged as required and directed by supervising staff.
  • Work on challenging projects within the TS/MS function. Work as part of a cross functional process team. You will work alongside experienced professionals who will mentor and guide you throughout your placement.
  • Support technical studies that advance manufacturing operations and strategic network initiatives.
  • Contribute to technical projects across the TS/MS function, including data analysis and reporting of results.
  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, and project updates.
  • Adhere to all safety, quality, and compliance requirements.

Requirements:
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written English language skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
  • Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization
  • Some base knowledge of FDA cGMPs and other applicable regulations
