Dennehy Motors Ltd are looking for an experienced and motivated Workshop Foreman to lead our large team in Limerick.

This is a hands-on leadership role for a technically strong motor professional who can organise a busy workshop, support technicians, maintain high standards and keep jobs moving efficiently from start to finish.

You will be the key link between technicians, Service Advisors, Parts and Management, helping to ensure customers receive a professional, efficient and high-quality service every time.

THE ROLE:

As Workshop Foreman, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day running and control of the workshop, ensuring work is allocated effectively, technicians, workshop controller are supported and vehicles are repaired safely, efficiently and right first time.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Plan and control the daily workshop workload.

  • Allocate jobs based on technician skill, workload and promised completion times.

  • Monitor live jobs and act quickly when delays or technical issues arise.

  • Keep Service Advisors updated on progress and revised completion times.

  • Manage urgent work, breakdowns, repeat repairs and waiting customers.

Technical Quality Support

  • Provide hands-on technical support to technicians and apprentices.

  • Act as the first escalation point for complex diagnostic issues.

  • Ensure repair procedures and technical information are followed.

  • Promote a strong first-time-fix culture.

  • Monitor quality, repeat repairs and comebacks and take corrective action.

  • Ensure safety-critical and major repairs are appropriately quality checked.

Team Performance Development

  • Lead, coach and support workshop technicians and apprentices.

  • Monitor productivity, efficiency, utilisation and sold hours.

  • Identify bottlenecks and lost time and work with management on improvements.

  • Promote strong timekeeping, clocking and job-card standards.

  • Identify training and development needs within the team.

Customer Service Support

  • Work closely with Service Advisors to communicate technical information clearly.

  • Help identify additional work quickly so customer approval can be obtained.

  • Provide realistic estimates of labour time and completion times.

  • Assist with difficult technical customer queries when required.

Warranty, Safety Standards

  • Ensure warranty repairs meet manufacturer requirements.

  • Maintain accurate diagnostic records, technician notes and supporting documentation.

  • Support manufacturer audits, campaigns, recalls and technical standards.

  • Maintain a safe, clean and professional workshop.

  • Ensure correct procedures are followed for lifts, tools, PPE, EV/high-voltage systems and workshop equipment.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • A recognised motor technician qualification and strong hands-on workshop experience.

  • Previous experience as a Workshop Foreman, Master Technician, Diagnostic Technician or Senior Technician.

  • Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.

  • Good knowledge of modern vehicle systems and diagnostic equipment.

  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple jobs and priorities.

  • The confidence to lead technicians while maintaining a positive team environment.

  • Strong communication skills with technicians, customers, Service Advisors, Parts and management.

  • Commercial awareness, including productivity, labour recovery and customer retention.

  • EV/hybrid and high-voltage experience is desirable, or a willingness to develop these skills.

  • A full Irish driving licence.

Renault Dacia or other franchise dealership experience is an advantage, but not essential. Salary will be based on experience
