Purpose of team and role:

The Global Capabilities Optimisation and Automation (GCOA) Team is responsible for driving innovation, process optimisation, and digital transformation across Cork GBS and the wider Lilly organisation. The team works closely with business partners to identify opportunities for improvement, leverage emerging technologies, and deliver solutions that enhance efficiency, decision-making, and business outcomes.

As an Automation Developer Intern, you will support the automation team creating and maintaining automation solutions for the business. The solutions will include defining, designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining automations through our platform (Python automations in Kubernetes containers hosted on AWS) that will interact with Lilly's AI Platform (NLM and OCR use cases), Microsoft Fabric, SAP API, Graph API and additional systems APIs where necessary. The role provides exposure to real-world business challenges, enabling you to build technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills while contributing to projects that improve processes and create value across Global Business Solutions

Responsibilities:
  • Support automation initiatives by gathering requirements, analysing data, and identifying process improvement opportunities.
  • Assist in developing automations using tools such as Python, Lilly AI's Platform, Claude and the Power Platform.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders and the GCOA team to help deliver data driven solutions that create measurable value.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement activities across automation and analytics projects. Requirements:
  • Currently enrolled in 3rd level education and ready to pursue student placement as part of an undergraduate program.
  • Exposure to development, data analysis, reporting, data visualisation through academic coursework or projects.
  • Basic knowledge of Python, SQL, or similar programming languages.

Familiarity with development and data analytics concepts.
