Children's Health Ireland (CHI) is the country's largest paediatric hospital and a leading centre for clinical trials and research involving children and young people. As part of preparations for the new Children's Hospital, CHI has integrated and streamlined its clinical research infrastructure across all sites under a unified governance structure.

This includes the establishment of a central Clinical Research Centre (CRC), working in close collaboration with the Cancer Clinical Trials Unit (CCTU) at CHI Crumlin, which specialises in paediatric oncology trials. Together, these units provide dedicated support from specialised research staff to facilitate high-quality clinical studies.

Within this framework, the Research Nurse - from here referred to as CNM2 will play a key role in the IMPACT group, contributing to the implementation of the Little Nirvana Project, part of a multicentre EU study, supporting the delivery and coordination of research activities across CHI. Will also support the team and advice on the other two therapeutic tools used in the multi-centre study.

Little NIRVANA is an evidence-based digital intervention designed to support children with cancer during medical procedures. It helps reduce anxiety, pain, and distress by using tools such as psychoeducation, guided imagery, relaxation, and distraction techniques before, during, and after procedures.

As part of the EU-IMPACT initiative, the project is being implemented across multiple European paediatric oncology centres to improve psychosocial care. It also evaluates usability, patient and caregiver satisfaction, and its impact on children's pain, well-being, and overall clinical experience.
