Job Summary

Reporting to the Shift Manager, the inspection operative is responsible for inspection, finishing, slitting, and rewinding & packing of all products to the required standards in keeping with specified quality expectations and the needs of our customers as per the site Product, Safety & Quality policy.

Principal Duties, Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

Specific Areas of Responsibility include:

  • Inspection Operatives are responsible for properly performing all checks as required by the Process Plan of Control. The Inspection Operative is responsible for the quality of their work. The quantity of work performed by the Inspection Operatives must meet or exceed the standards established by the Shift Manager.
  • Inspection Operatives are responsible for relaying any information that will affect the quality of the work being produced to the appropriate associates. This information must be communicated accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Inspection Operatives are accountable for all functions described in this Job Description as well as other assignments and duties as directed by the Shift Manager and other members of the Management Team.
  • Inspection Operatives are accountable for the work that they perform and that the work is accurate, timely, and meets the standards established by the Shift Manager.
  • It is the Inspection Operative’s responsibility to uphold Multi Color’s philosophy, rules and regulations as well as support and offer suggestions on how to improve the quality and quantity of work being performed in the Printing Department.
  • Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) have been developed to assist the Inspection Operative. These and Current Best Approach, Work Instructions and Check Sheets must be used and followed at all times.
  • Each Employee is responsible for practicing safety at all times. This includes, but is not limited to, following all posted safety rules, common safety practices, correcting hazardous conditions within their area of responsibility and reporting unsafe conditions in any area to the Shift Manager.
  • Inspection Operatives are responsible for the Quality of Housekeeping in accordance with common and accepted housekeeping practices.

Tasks:

  • Operation of rewind/ inspection equipment
  • Operation of inspection camera system
  • Operation of the GUK folder and associated packing
  • Visually inspect labels for defects
  • Splice rolls together using scissors and tape
  • Set up multiple slitter units
  • Slit down jobs
  • Pack each job as completed
  • Make core / shipper labels, certificates of compliance and packing lists
  • Set up the 100% visual inspection unit
  • Splice rolls together using splicing table, following customer splicing specifications
  • Maintain the rewinder machine using Preventative Maintenance schedules
  • Follow SOP’s (paperwork)
  • Train new personnel as required

The Post holder will work a 36-hour week minimum, and the hours of attendance will depend on the business needs of MCC.
