Applications are invited for a temporary post of a Research Co-Ordinator within the School of Biology and Environmental Science
Rising global temperatures are causing widespread death among aquatic organisms. The molecular mechanisms and effects of heat stress remain poorly understood. The ERC-funded MolStressH2O project will investigate three overlooked aspects with a focus on stress-induced metabolites: whether heat stress can spread between organisms, whether it can increase mutations, and how genetic networks may filter harmful changes before reproduction. The project will focus on three organisms whose body temperature is primarily regulated by their environment rather than internally. It will test whether stress signals spread across species, identify molecules and pathways involved, measure heat-induced mutations and model how genomic networks shape adaptation. Insights could improve predictions of organisms' adaptation to climate change. We are looking for a project co-ordinator to help achieve the project objectives.
Fixed Salary: €50,200 per annum pro rata, equivalent to €25,100 per annum at 0.5 FTE
