15 Months Fixed Term, Whole-time Post

We are currently recruiting a Postdoctoral Researcher with a background in Neuroscience, Pharmacology, Physiology, Biomedical Science, Microbiology or a related discipline to join the Microbiome-Brain-Gut Axis research programme at APC Microbiome Ireland and University College Cork. The successful candidate will join the Research Ireland funded project focussed on understanding the impact of microbiota on neurodevelopment and stress and social behaviour using zebrafish as a model system.

Experience of zebrafish as a model system is desirable. The ongoing projects utilize techniques such as zebrafish microbiota manipulation, molecular biology including (meta)genomics and metabolomics, bioinformatic analysis, behaviour, immunofluorescence, optogenetics and microscopy. Experience in these disciplines particularly with a focus on zebrafish imaging and multi-omics analysis is desired and will be highly valued. The candidate should have good communication and interpersonal skills, along with the evidence of ability to work on own initiative as well as part of a team. They will be expected to contribute to scientific publications, conference presentations, grant applications and dissemination activities, while working within a highly collaborative multidisciplinary environment.

Please note that this role may be extended by 6 months, pending approval.

Salary: IUA PD1 Salary Scale: €47,273 - €53,925, p.a.

Salary placement on appointment will be in accordance with public sector pay policy.
