We are seeking a skilled BMS Field Engineer to oversee the deployment, testing, and lifecycle maintenance of our Building Management Systems. This role is highly hands-on and requires a mix of electrical troubleshooting, system calibration, and field software verification. You will ensure control systems are correctly installed, fully functional, and regularly maintained to maximize building efficiency and uptime.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervise or execute the physical installation of control panels, field controllers, sensors, actuators and various field components.
- Verify that containment, cabling, and terminations comply with engineering schematics and local electrical codes.
- Review electrical drawings and installation plans to resolve layout discrepancies on-site.
- Perform rigorous point-to-point testing to verify signals between field devices and central controllers.
- Upload, test, and tune control logic loops for HVAC plant, lighting, and power monitoring systems.
- Conduct network configuration and integration using BACnet, Modbus, or local area network protocols.
- Perform functional performance tests and manage formal system handover documentation for client acceptance.
- Execute scheduled preventative maintenance visits, including checking sensor calibration and testing backup systems.
- Respond to reactive call-outs to diagnose and repair hardware, software, or network communication failures.
- Analyse system logs and trend logs to identify operational inefficiencies or recurring alarms.
- Provide on-site technical support and basic system training to client facility management teams.
Qualifications and Experience
- Strong electrical or electronic fault-finding skills (Trade or Engineering qualification preferred).
- Direct experience with field controllers, control panel wiring, and testing instruments (multimeters, loop calibrators).
- 2+ years of hands-on experience in BMS service, commissioning, or maintenance.
- Practical familiarity with platforms like Tridium Niagara, Trend, ABB Cylon, Siemens Desigo, or Schneider EcoStruxure.
- Strong diagnostic capabilities to isolate faults between physical mechanical equipment, wiring, and software code.
- Relevant technical qualification (Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Building Services, or Instrumentation) and standard site safety certifications
- Full, clean driving licence for travel to client sites.
