UCD Post-doctoral Research Fellow Level 1, School of Medicine, Temporary Up to 20th May 2028 with possibility of extension
Applications are invited for a temporary post of a Post-doctoral Research Fellow Level 1 within the School of Medicine
To contribute to an innovative research programme focused on the development and application of digital twin approaches for ovarian cancer. The successful candidate will join the research groups of Professor Walter Kolch and Professor Donal Brennan at Systems Biology Ireland (SBI), University College Dublin, and will contribute to a multidisciplinary research programme being delivered in collaboration with an industry partner. The successful candidate will work as part of a collaborative team of computational, experimental and clinical researchers to deliver key objectives of the programme.
SBI is a leading interdisciplinary research centre that integrates computational modelling with experimental and clinical research to advance precision medicine. This post focuses on establishing and maintaining patient-derived tissue fragment (PDTF) models from cancer patient samples, working closely with the clinical team led by Professor Donal Brennan. The successful candidate will generate PDTF models from primary tumour and metastatic sites of ovarian cancer patients that supply both multi-omics analysis and perturbation experiments, and will prepare surplus tissue for downstream patient-derived organoid (PDO) generation.
Salary Range: €47,273 - €47,879 Per Annum
Appointment on the above range will be dependent upon qualifications and experience.
Closing date: 12:00 noon (local Irish time) on 2 September 2026
Applications must be submitted by the closing date and time specified. Any applications which are still in progress at the closing time of 12:00 noon (Local Irish Time) on the specified closing date will be cancelled automatically by the system. UCD are unable to accept late applications.
UCD do not require assistance from Recruitment Agencies. Any CV's submitted by Recruitment Agencies will be returned.
The PD1 position is intended for early stage researchers, either just after completion of a PhD or for someone entering a new area for the first time. If you have already completed your PD1 stage in UCD or will soon complete a PD1, or you are an external applicant whose total Postdoctoral experience, inclusive of the duration of the advertised post, would exceed 4 years, you should not apply and should refer to PD2 posts instead.
