ABOUT THE ROLE

The Role
  • The Broadcast Operations Lead supports the successful delivery of live broadcasts across Gravity Media's Remote Production Centre operations. Acting as a key operational resource between Production, Engineering, Technical Operations, and Clients, this role helps ensure broadcasts are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest technical standards.
  • The role combines live broadcast leadership with operational support, workflow development, and operator mentoring. Working closely with Service Delivery Managers, Production Managers, Technical Managers, and Engineering teams, the Broadcast Operations Lead helps maintain broadcast readiness, support live-show execution, and drive consistency across operational processes and production workflows.
  • As the operational lead for Front Row Gallery teams, this position provides day-to-day leadership and support to Technical Directors, Replay Operators, Graphics Operators, Vision Operators, and other gallery personnel during rehearsals and live broadcasts. The role serves as a senior operational presence during productions, providing escalation support, coordination, and practical leadership across complex live events. This role will report into the Service Delivery Manger for the Remote Broadcast Centre.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Live Broadcast Operations
  • Serve as the operational point of contact for assigned productions and live broadcasts.
  • Support live production delivery across remote and on-site production environments.
  • Assist with pre-production planning, operational readiness reviews, and risk assessments.
  • Coordinate activities between Production, Engineering, MCR, Replay, Vision, Graphics, Edit, and Operations teams.
  • Provide escalation support during live broadcasts and assist in resolving operational issues.
  • Help determine when issues require escalation to Production Management, Engineering, or Technical Leadership.
  • Support contingency planning and operational recovery during live incidents
  • Participate in post-event reviews and document operational learnings.


Front Row Gallery Leadership
  • Act as the operational lead for Front Row Gallery teams during rehearsals and live productions.
  • Provide day-to-day leadership, support, and coordination for Technical Directors, Replay Operators, Graphics Operators, Vision Operators, and other gallery personnel.
  • Monitor gallery readiness and ensure operators have the resources, information, and support required to perform effectively.
  • Assist with operator allocation and role coverage in partnership with Production and Resource Management teams.
  • Support gallery teams during high-pressure broadcasts by providing guidance, issue resolution, and escalation management.
  • Facilitate communication between Front Row Gallery teams and Production, Engineering, and Technical Operations departments.
  • Promote consistent operational standards, workflow discipline, and best practices across all productions
  • Identify opportunities for operator development and cross-training within gallery functions.


Operational Readiness and Support
  • Help maintain operational readiness across production galleries and technical facilities.
  • Support the preparation and coordination of production resources, staffing, and technical requirements.
  • Assist with technical documentation, signal-flow plans, operational checklists, and production workflows.
  • Monitor operational performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Support the implementation of new workflows, tools, and operational processes.
  • Work closely with Service Delivery Mangers, Technical Managers and Engineering teams to ensure facilities remain production ready.


Training and Operator Development
  • Support the development of operational staff through mentoring, coaching, and hands-on guidance in collaboration with the Service Delivery Manager.
  • Assist with onboarding and training activities for new operators and freelancers.
  • Facilitate shadowing opportunities, workflow reviews, VOD reviews, and operational feedback sessions.
  • Help assess operator readiness for rehearsals, lower-risk productions, and live broadcasts.
  • Encourage cross-training opportunities to increase operational flexibility across teams.
  • Share best practices and lessons learned from live productions.
  • Support the development of future Front Row Gallery talent and succession readiness within operational teams.


Workflow and Process Improvement
  • Assist in maintaining SOPs, operational documentation, workflows, and escalation procedures.
  • Identify recurring operational challenges and recommend practical improvements.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at increasing consistency and efficiency.
  • Contribute operational expertise during testing, rehearsals, and new production initiatives.
  • Help ensure operational standards are applied consistently across productions.


Client and Stakeholder Support
  • Support communication between clients, production teams, and technical departments.
  • Assist in translating production requirements into operational plans.
  • Help maintain a high standard of client service throughout production delivery.
  • Foster effective collaboration across internal and external stakeholders.

EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

Essential
  • Experience working within live broadcast, remote production, studio, or outside broadcast environments.
  • Strong understanding of broadcast operations and live production workflows.
  • Experience supporting live broadcasts in fast-paced operational environments.
  • Demonstrated experience leading or coordinating gallery-based production teams.
  • Ability to remain calm and make effective decisions under pressure.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and coordination skills.
  • Excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience working across multiple production disciplines and stakeholder groups.

Desirable
  • Experience in sports, entertainment, esports, or large-scale live event production.
  • Knowledge of MCR, replay, vision, graphics, and gallery workflows.
  • Experience mentoring or supporting the development of operational staff.
  • Familiarity with technical planning documentation and production systems.
  • Experience working within remote production centre environments.
