Senior Certification Engineer

FM Approvals is recognised as a European Union Notified Body based in Dublin, Ireland. FM Approved products cover a wide range of property loss prevention products involving electrical systems, fire protection and building materials. The certification engineer position reports to the European Certification Manager and supports Notified Body activities. Travel will equate to approx. 25% of the working time.

Responsibilities
• Review certification project documentation including but not limited to applications; test/assessment plans; test and/or audit reports and quality system certifications.
• Evaluate and authorise certificates issued by the organisation in accordance with the requirements of the certification scheme and where appropriate, issue the suspension, cancellation or withdrawal of certificates as required.
• Preparation of departmental performance metrics for management.
• Undertake assigned audit assessment activities.
• Preparation of reports for submission to the Safeguarding Committee; Government Departments and/or other pertinent organizations, including recommended actions where necessary.
• Investigate and report any certification related matters internally within FM Approvals.
• Develop and support new programs, policies and processes to improve operational efficiency and compliance related matters.

Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in engineering required within one of the following fields of expertise Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical and/or Industrial Engineering.
• A minimum of 5 years of manufacturing processes experience is required, and 5 years of related quality auditing, process control and/or QA experience is preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
• Possess critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Microsoft Office suite computer literacy.
• Ability to take direction and work with minimal supervision.
• Must be self-motivated with excellent organisational skills.
• Ability to obtain and assess objective evidence throughout the audit while acting impartially.
• Observe, document, and evaluate audit observations while effectively managing customer interactions during the audit process.

Additional preferred qualifications and skills:
• Knowledge of European Regulations/Directives & International Standards;
• ISO 9001, 17020, 17025 and/or 17065 experience.
• ASQ, RABQSA / Exemplar Global or equivalent ISO 9001 Lead Auditor Certification
• ASQ certifications including CQA, CQE, CQI, CCT are beneficial.
