Head of client asset oversight

Hybrid role based in our Dublin office, with occasional travel to our UK offices as needed

About us

Seccl is the Octopus-owned embedded investment platform, on a mission to help more people invest, and invest well.

We're building the infrastructure behind the next generation of investing. Our technology already powers some of the UK's most ambitious fintechs, banks, financial advisers and wealth firms, with close to a million investors relying on Seccl-powered platforms. And we're now expanding into Europe, starting in Ireland.

We've got a proven product, strong momentum and big ambitions for what comes next: helping more household-name brands launch and scale investment propositions, entering new markets and replacing outdated investment infrastructure with technology that's faster, simpler and built for scale.

We're proud to be part of Octopus, one of the UK's most successful privately held investment and technology groups. That gives us the backing and long-term perspective to build something substantial, while keeping the pace and energy of a high-growth business. Seccl and Octopus are both B Corp certified and share a belief that profit and purpose should go hand in hand.

If you want to help build the next chapter of Seccl in Ireland and shape the future of investing across Europe, you'll be in good company.

The role

We're looking for a head of client asset oversight to play a central role in building Seccl Ireland. You'll take ownership (PCF-45 holder) of how we safeguard client money and assets, shaping the controls, governance and ways of working that will underpin our Irish business as it grows.

As our client asset subject matter expert, you'll own our approach to the Central Bank's Client Asset Requirements (CAR), including the Client Asset Management Plan (CAMP), policies, controls, monitoring and regulatory reporting. You'll have the scope to build an oversight framework that is robust from the outset and keeps evolving as our products, customers and operating model develop.

You'll work across Seccl to make sure client asset considerations are built into decisions from the start. That means influencing new products and customer propositions, providing clear insight to senior leaders and the Ireland Board, working closely with auditors and the Central Bank of Ireland, and providing constructive challenge wherever client assets are involved.

What you'll own

  • Owning Seccl Ireland's client asset framework and ensuring our approach meets the Central Bank of Ireland's Client Asset Requirements

  • Maintaining and evolving the Client Asset Management Plan, Client Asset Applicability Matrix and Client Asset Key Information Document

  • Building effective first-line controls, monitoring and assurance to safeguard client money and assets

  • Providing clear reporting and insight on client asset compliance, risks and controls to senior leaders, the Ireland Board and relevant committees

  • Leading regulatory reporting, the annual Client Asset Examination and engagement with auditors and the Central Bank of Ireland

  • Reviewing client asset breaches and near misses, making sure root causes are understood and improvements are embedded

  • Working with operations, finance, product, engineering, legal, compliance and Seccl's UK client asset specialists to make sure client asset requirements shape how we build and operate

This role's for you if...

You're someone who combines deep client asset expertise with sound judgement and a practical approach. You enjoy building strong frameworks, getting into the detail and helping people across a business understand what good looks like.

  • You have significant experience working with client asset regulation and oversight in a regulated financial services business

  • You have the experience, judgement and track record to take on PCF-45 responsibilities

  • You understand the Central Bank of Ireland's Client Asset Requirements and how to translate regulation into practical controls, policies and processes

  • You have experience building or maintaining client asset governance, monitoring, assurance and regulatory reporting frameworks

  • You're comfortable providing constructive challenge, escalating material concerns and making clear decisions where client assets are at risk

  • You can build trusted relationships with regulators, auditors, senior leaders and colleagues across technical and operational teams

  • Experience of helping establish or scale a client asset framework in Ireland would be particularly useful, but isn't essential

This role isn't for you if...

  • You want to inherit something fully defined. You'll have established regulatory requirements to work within, but plenty of opportunity to shape how Seccl Ireland meets them in practice

  • You prefer oversight to happen at arm's length. This is a first-line role, so you'll stay close to the processes, controls and decisions you're accountable for

  • You avoid challenge or difficult conversations. Protecting client assets sometimes means asking hard questions, escalating concerns and holding a clear line

  • You prefer regulation to stay within one team. You'll need to make client asset thinking accessible and relevant across product, engineering, operations, finance and the wider business

What's in it for you

We offer a generous mix of benefits designed around the things that matter to our people:

  • 135,000 to 155,000, dependent on experience and reviewed annually, plus a 6% employer pension contribution

  • 25 days' holiday plus bank holidays, with some flexibility around bank holidays, plus your birthday off

  • Two volunteering days each year

  • The option to work abroad for up to six weeks a year

  • Secclbrate, our recognition programme offering flexible rewards including extra pay, additional holiday and increased learning budget

  • One-month paid sabbatical after eight years

  • Private medical insurance

  • Enhanced parental leave

  • MacBook and up to 500 towards your home office set-up

  • 750 annual learning budget

  • Health and wellbeing support, including free therapy through Wellness Cloud and mental health support through Headspace

  • Perkbox, with flexible points and a range of discounts and perks

Our culture

We put people first and try hard to create an environment where people feel trusted, heard and able to do their best work.

We value openness, curiosity and different perspectives. You'll have the freedom to challenge how things are done, experiment with better ways of working and take real ownership of your impact.

As our Dublin team grows, you'll also have the opportunity to help shape the culture we build in Ireland while being part of the wider Seccl team.
