The post combines dispensary practice and the use of IT systems in medication management with ward-based clinical pharmacy, alongside opportunities in medication safety, audit and quality improvement. This post may suit a recently qualified or an experienced Pharmacist.

The Role

- Use of the hospital's medication management IT systems in daily clinical and dispensary practice
- Ward-based clinical pharmacy services, including medication review and patient counselling
- Data collection, audit and medication safety initiatives
- Policy development and implementation
- Education and training for multidisciplinary teams

- Meditech Electronic Health Record (EHR) and electronic prescribing
- Omnicell Automated Dispensing Cabinets (ADCs) for ward-level medication supply
- Barcode technology (BCT) supporting closed-loop medication safety
This is an excellent opportunity to develop expertise in digital medicines management - skills that are increasingly central to modern hospital pharmacy practice.
Essential Requirements
- Registered, or eligible for registration, with the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland
- The requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability) for the proper discharge of the duties of the office
- Strong planning and organisational skills
- Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Leadership and sound decision-making ability
- Effective communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
- A patient-centred focus
- Good IT skills and a willingness to work with clinical systems
Desirable
- Previous hospital pharmacy experience
- Experience with electronic prescribing, automated dispensing or barcode medication systems
