Reports To: Senior Cyber Security Consultant / Head of Cyber Consultancy

Location
Republic of Ireland - Hybrid (minimum 3 days on-site per week).This is a Dublin-based hybrid role. The successful candidate will be expected to work a minimum of three days per week on-site from a Viatel office/hub, with Dublin serving as the primary office and commercial base for the role. This is not a fully remote position.

Job Purpose
The Cyber Security Consultant will deliver cyber assessments, advisory engagements, workshops, reporting and improvement planning, primarily supporting customers and opportunities in the Republic of Ireland. The role will work independently on defined assignments and alongside Senior Consultants on larger programmes, while developing broader consultancy capability, specialist expertise and commercial awareness.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver consultancy engagements in line with agreed scope, methodology, quality standards and timescales.
  • Conduct evidence reviews, stakeholder interviews, control assessments, risk assessments and cyber maturity or gap analyses.
  • Produce clear reports, findings, recommendations and prioritised improvement plans.
  • Support the development of policies, standards, risk registers, governance arrangements and control frameworks.
  • Facilitate or support customer workshops, interviews, presentations and cyber resilience exercises.
  • Help customers interpret relevant regulatory requirements, standards and recognised good practice.
  • Maintain accurate engagement records and support proposals, statements of work, tenders and customer presentations.
  • Build trusted customer relationships, contribute to consultancy methodologies and develop capability within one or more service areas.


Required Skills and Experience

  • Typically three to eight years of cyber security, risk, audit, compliance or related experience.
  • Practical customer-facing experience, ideally within consultancy, professional services or managed services.
  • Practical knowledge of recognised frameworks, standards and regulatory requirements such as ISO/IEC 27001, NIST CSF, CIS Controls and NIS2.
  • Experience contributing to risk, maturity, control or regulatory gap assessments and improvement planning.
  • Working knowledge of the Irish and EU cyber security regulatory landscape.
  • Sound understanding of governance, risk, incident response, business continuity, third-party risk and core security controls.
  • Strong analytical, report-writing, presentation and workshop facilitation skills.
  • Ability to manage assigned work across multiple customers and meet agreed deadlines.


Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Experience of Irish NCSC guidance, Risk Management Measures and the Cyber Fundamentals Framework, or CyFun.
  • Experience or working knowledge of DORA, ICT third-party risk, incident reporting or operational resilience.
  • Practical involvement in ISO/IEC 27001 implementation, internal audit, readiness assessment or certification support.
  • Knowledge of the UK NIS Regulations and NCSC Cyber Assessment Framework would be advantageous when supporting customers operating across Ireland and the UK.
  • Experience supporting incident readiness, business continuity, disaster recovery, operational resilience or third-party risk engagements.
  • Experience in regulated or critical sectors such as financial services, telecommunications, public sector, healthcare, energy, transport or digital infrastructure.
  • Exposure to cloud security, security architecture, security operations, vulnerability management or technical risk assessment.


Certifications (Desirable)

  • ISO/IEC 27001 Lead Auditor, Lead Implementer or Practitioner
  • CompTIA Security+, CySA+ or equivalent
  • SSCP, CISSP, CISM, CRISC or CISA, or active progress towards one
  • Relevant cloud, business continuity, audit or risk qualification


Additional Requirements
  • Applicants must have the right to work in the Republic of Ireland.
  • The role requires travel to customer locations across Ireland, with occasional travel elsewhere as required.
