About the role

As a Music Technician, you will support the day-to-day operation of BIMM's specialist music facilities, ensuring equipment, studios and technical resources are maintained and ready to support teaching, learning and wider student activity.

You'll provide practical technical support and guidance to students and staff, helping to ensure facilities operate effectively, safely and in line with curriculum requirements.

What You'll Do:
• Support teaching, learning and extracurricular activity by preparing, configuring and maintaining music equipment and facilities
• Deliver technical demonstrations, workshops and one-to-one support to help students develop their technical knowledge and confidence
• Provide advice and guidance on the effective use of facilities and equipment
• Support activity at external venues where required, ensuring technical and safety requirements are met
• Manage equipment loans and maintain accurate asset, maintenance and usage records
• Carry out routine inspections, checks and minor repairs on technical equipment, escalating issues where specialist support is required
• Liaise with external contractors to coordinate servicing, maintenance and repair work
• Support inductions, inspections and compliance checks to help maintain safe technical environments
• Maintain accurate records using relevant technical, asset management and compliance systems
• Contribute to service improvements by identifying recurring issues and recommending practical solutions
• Share technical knowledge with colleagues and support the delivery of consistent standards and working practices

What You'll Bring:
• Experience working within the music industry or a specialist music education environment
• Practical knowledge of music technology, specialist facilities and technical equipment
• Good organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise workloads and respond to changing demands
• Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills
• A practical, solutions-focused approach and sound judgement when resolving day-to-day technical issues
• The ability to build effective working relationships with students, colleagues, contractors and service teams
• Good digital skills, including experience using technical, asset management or record-keeping systems
• The ability to work independently while contributing positively as part of a wider team
• A flexible and adaptable approach to work

This is a full-time role, working evening shifts Monday to Friday
