UCD Post doctoral Research Fellow Level 2, School of Computer Science, Temporary 1 year

Applications are invited for a temporary post of a UCD Post doctoral Research Fellow Level 2 within School of Computer Science

The position will be undertaken in collaboration with the YouthDMH COST Action and will focus on the design of AI technologies to support youth mental health. The years 18-25 are a critical developmental period during which most mental health conditions first emerge. In Ireland and internationally, demand for youth mental health services continues to exceed capacity, limiting continuity of care following initial contact. Stepped-care models have been introduced to address this challenge by providing early, low-intensity support and escalating care as needed. However, gaps remain in sustaining support between service encounters. This project will explore how generative artificial intelligence (AI) can be responsibly designed to complement stepped-care approaches by providing accessible, low-intensity support for young adults managing mental health difficulties
