Senior Staff Officer (School of Business)
The portfolio of programmes within the School of Business includes standard CAO programmes and is additionally differentiated by a series of postgraduate programmes and innovation/knowledge initiatives for industry, namely in the following areas:
• Work based Learning
• Lifelong learning
• Practice based Postgraduate and Executive programmes
• Innovation/knowledge initiatives for industry
These differentiating aspects are also reflected in our internal processes and systems for managing and reporting on operations and resources.
The appointee will participate in such teams as may be established from time to time by the Head of School and Head of Faculty to set directions for future strategic and operational objectives. The appointee will report to the Head of School and will work in collaboration with Heads of Departments, the School and Faculty offices, and other functional areas throughout the university.
Working as part of the School team, the post holder will be expected to be enthusiastic, innovative and self-motivating in responding to the requirements of this challenging post. The position requires both formal and informal leadership with high level of interpersonal skills and flexibility as the Faculty of Business and associated School and Departments commence implementation of new structures.
The appointee must:
• Be capable of displaying initiative and exercising a high degree of delegated responsibility at a senior level
• Have strong organisational skills with the ability to problem solve and work to tight deadlines
• Possess excellent communication, presentation and team working skills
• Have a high degree of computer literacy - to include competence in the following applications - spreadsheets, databases, e-mail and contacts management
• Have proven administrative abilities and experience
• Have highly developed organisational and project management skills
• High degree of financial/performance acumen
• Have experience in undertaking change/innovation, developing best practice and a proven ability to win support for ideas
• Have a high skill level in research, quantitative analysis and presentation of information.
• Have a high skill level in report/document writing
• Have a strong aptitude for public relations
• Have an ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately and with discretion.
• Such other duties as may be required from time to time, determined by the Head of School or Head of Faculty.
