The Position

We wish to appoint a VAT Manager to join our Indirect Tax team with a key focus on Financial Services Tax, supporting a growing portfolio of domestic and international Financial Services clients on a wide range of indirect tax matters .. Working closely with the partners this role will involve the provision of practical and innovative tax planning solutions. As part of a management team the individual will be responsible for the achievement of departmental goals and targets. Strong technical, interpersonal and client relationship skills are required for this role.

This is an exciting opportunity to join Forvis Mazars' expanding VAT practice, with a particular focus on advising leading Financial Services clients, including investment managers, funds, banks, insurance companies, fintech businesses and other regulated entities. The successful candidate will possess strong VAT technical expertise and significant experience advising Financial Services businesses on complex indirect tax matters, both domestically and internationally.

The role offers exposure to a broad range of advisory and compliance projects, including VAT recovery methodologies, fund structures, outsourcing arrangements, cross-border transactions, and evolving indirect tax developments impacting the Financial Services sector. The successful candicate will also work across a broad range of VAT matters spanning other sectors including property, public sector, healthcare and international businesses.

Key R esponsibilities

  • Responsibility for working to deadlines and within budgets on each job
  • Involvement in firm / department / practice development and marketing initiatives
  • Responsibility for fee billing and cash collection among own portfolio of clients
  • Assisting the management team in maintaining and developing the firm's relationship with a portfolio of clients including co-ordination of service offerings from other departments
  • Involvement in peer wide training and in team training
  • Involvement in business development and marketing initiatives at firm, department and team levels
  • Responsibility for staff development and reviewing procedures
  • Lead the provision of VAT advisory services to a portfolio of Financial Services clients, including asset managers, investment funds, banking and insurance businesses.
  • Advise clients on complex VAT technical issues affecting the Financial Services sector, including partial exemption, VAT recovery, outsourcing arrangements and cross-border transactions.
  • Support clients in navigating VAT risks arising from regulatory change, operational transformation and new product offerings.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders within Financial Services organisations.
  • Assist in the development of the firm's Financial Services indirect tax offering through thought leadership, technical training and business development initiatives.


Ideal C andidate

  • ITI Qualified
  • Qualified VAT practitioner with significant VAT experience gained within a professional services firm, industry role or specialist indirect tax team.
  • Demonstrable experience advising Financial Services clients, including banks, asset managers, investment funds, insurance companies, payment services providers and other regulated entities.
  • Strong understanding of VAT issues relevant to the Financial Services sector, including partial exemption, input VAT recovery, cross-border transactions, outsourcing arrangements and fund structures.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • High degree of attention to detail
  • Ability to provide guidance to others
  • Excellent organisational and planning capabilities
  • Enthusiastic and confident with the ability to work with varying types of people
  • Possess the highest degree of integrity and confidentiality in all aspects of the role
  • Must be a team player, yet highly self-driven
  • Excellent computer-literacy skills
