DNV's Energy Systems business is seeking a Senior Environmental Consultant to join our growing Circular Economy & Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Team. This is an exciting opportunity to take a leading role in the delivery of nationally significant environmental compliance programmes, working closely with clients, regulators and industry stakeholders to drive positive environmental outcomes across Ireland.
Based in the Greater Dublin area, you will manage high-profile environmental programmes, lead environmental audit and inspection activities, and support the continued growth of DNV's environmental services offering.

The Role:
As a Senior Environmental Consultant, you will act as a trusted technical advisor and programme manager for key environmental compliance contracts. A significant element of the role involves managing a national audit programme on behalf of a national Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) scheme, acting as the primary client contact, coordinating programme delivery and undertaking compliance audits. You will also manage and support a team of environmental professionals delivering audit activities across Ireland.
In addition, you will serve as DNV's lead contact for work involving inspections under the Solvents and Decorative Paints Regulations, ensuring consistent, high-quality delivery and maintaining strong relationships with regulatory stakeholders. Alongside programme delivery, you will play an important role in developing client relationships, supporting business growth and mentoring colleagues within a collaborative and highly respected environmental team.
Key Responsibilities:

Programme & Client Management
- Lead the delivery of major environmental compliance programmes on behalf of key clients, serving as the principal point of contact for two major client accounts
- Manage programme performance, resources, budgets, timelines and deliverables
- Identify opportunities for service improvement, programme development and future growth opportunities, while supporting wider business development activities

Environmental Auditing & Inspections
- Plan, coordinate and undertake environmental compliance audits across Ireland
- Oversee audit quality, consistency and reporting outputs
- Support the delivery of environmental inspection programmes on behalf of regulatory and industry clients
- Oversee the quality, consistency and reporting of audit and inspection activities, ensuring delivery in accordance with relevant legislation, contractual requirements and DNV quality standards

Regulatory Compliance & Advisory Services
- Interpret environmental legislation and regulatory requirements, providing clients with practical environmental compliance advice and guidance
- Review compliance data and regulatory submissions to identify, assess and manage environmental compliance risks

Stakeholder Engagement
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, regulators, industry representatives and other stakeholders
- Act as DNV's lead representative for key environmental compliance contracts, presenting findings and recommendations to clients and stakeholders
- Support training, guidance and communication activities where required.

Team Leadership
- Manage, mentor and develop a small team of environmental professionals, supporting employee development, performance management and technical growth
- Foster a collaborative, high-performing team culture, sharing knowledge and best practice across the wider Circular Economy & EIA Team.
As an experienced environmental professional you'll enjoy combining technical expertise with programme leadership, client engagement and team development. Comfortable working with clients, regulators and other stakeholders, you can balance strategic oversight with practical delivery, whether leading environmental programmes, managing people or carrying out audit and inspection activities in the field.
Essential Requirements
- Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Sustainability, Engineering or a related discipline, together with significant relevant experience in environmental consultancy, environmental compliance, regulatory programmes or a related field
- Experience managing environmental projects, programmes or contracts and undertaking environmental audits, inspections or compliance assessments
- Demonstrable understanding of environmental legislation and regulatory frameworks
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, client relationship management and people leadership skills including experience of managing or mentoring other
- Strong report writing, communication and organisational skills
- Full clean driving licence and willingness to travel throughout Ireland (approximately 25% of working time).
Desirable Experience
- Experience working with Producer Responsibility or Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) schemes, or related circular economy initiatives such as packaging, WEEE, batteries or other regulated waste streams
- Experience engaging with the EPA, local authorities or other regulatory bodies
- Lead Auditor qualification and/or experience planning, coordinating or managing national audit, inspection or compliance programmes
- Experience delivering Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) or broader environmental consultancy projects.
