Research Assistant, UCD School of Medicine, Fixed Term Contract end date 31st July 2027
Applications are invited for a temporary post of a Research Assistant within the School of Medicine.
Sentinel skin flaps (SSF) have been demonstrated to provide a dynamic canvas that can diagnose and monitor acute cellular rejection (ACR) in a transplanted organ in real time. Recent work has demonstrated that development of a skin rash on the SSF in ACR, preceded or was concordant with organ rejection. A skin biopsy allowed early diagnosis of ACR. www.sentinelstudy.ie
This pilot study will assess the use of Skin flaps as a biomarker for diagnosing and monitoring early ACR in solid organ transplant, along with providing preliminary data on the mechanisms involved in skin flap-mediated immunomodulation. We aim to examine perturbations in cellular and molecular markers within the SSF skin, peripheral blood and organ biopsies during acute rejection episodes compared with study protocol biopsies.
Salary Range: €34,129 - €44,311 Per Annum
Appointment on the above range will be dependent upon qualifications and experience.
Closing date: 12:00 noon (local Irish time) on 24 August 2026
Applications must be submitted by the closing date and time specified. Any applications which are still in progress at the closing time of 12:00 noon (Local Irish Time) on the specified closing date will be cancelled automatically by the system. UCD are unable to accept late applications.
UCD do not require assistance from Recruitment Agencies. Any CV's submitted by Recruitment Agencies will be returned.
