UCD Post-doctoral Research Fellow Level 2, UCD School of Chemistry, Temporary 12 months
Applications are invited for a temporary post of a UCD Post-doctoral Research Fellow Level 2 within UCD School of Chemistry.
Applications are invited for a 12-month post-doctoral position working on direct air capture of carbon dioxide using polyamino cryptates. The proposed work with Assoc. Prof. Grace Morgan (https://people.ucd.ie/grace.morgan) focuses on synthesis of cyclic polyamines and their metal complexes followed by investigation of carbon dioxide binding to the metal-containing crypts and characterisation of the bound carbon dioxide adducts using a range of spectroscopic, chromatographic and diffraction techniques including UV-Vis, EPR, IR and NMR spectroscopies, mass spectrometry, ion chromatography and powder and single crystal diffraction.
The successful candidate should have experience in synthesis of coordination compounds and good knowledge of different types of spectroscopy and diffraction methods.
The candidate should be willing and able to work with other team members in the UCD School of Chemical and Bioprocess Engineering and be able to work independently at times. The candidate should also be able to help with the day-to-day supervision of the work of the junior co-workers associated with the project.
The candidate should also have effective communication skills, both written and verbal, including presentations at scientific conferences. Full training in all new experimental methods will be provided and UCD also offers professional career development to all postdoctoral fellows.
PD2 Salary Range: €55,399 - €60,250 Per Annum
Appointment on the above range will be dependent upon qualifications and experience.
Closing date: 12:00 noon (local Irish time) on 17 August 2026.
Applications must be submitted by the closing date and time specified. Any applications which are still in progress at the closing time of 12:00 noon (Local Irish Time) on the specified closing date will be cancelled automatically by the system. UCD are unable to accept late applications.
UCD do not require assistance from Recruitment Agencies. Any CV's submitted by Recruitment Agencies will be returned.
The PD2 post is intended for researchers who have completed PD1. As with the PD1, if you have already completed your PD2 stage in UCD or will soon complete a PD2, or your total Postdoctoral experience, inclusive of the duration of the advertised post, would exceed 6 years, you should not apply and should refer to Research Fellow posts instead.
