Overview

We are looking to recruit an experienced Automation Engineer to join our team supporting a pharmaceutical manufacturing facility in Carlow. The successful candidate will provide automation support across DeltaV, Siemens S7 PLC and OEM automation systems within a regulated manufacturing environment.

The ideal candidate will have strong automation troubleshooting experience, together with experience working in the pharmaceutical industry and a good understanding of cGMP requirements.

Responsibilities

Automation Support
  • Assist with field testing for network connectivity, instrumentation devices and software functionality.
  • Diagnose automation issues and propose appropriate resolutions.
  • Liaise with vendors to resolve issues relating to automation equipment.
  • Complete daily system backup checks where required.
  • Complete scheduled monthly, two-monthly and yearly checks on OEM and DeltaV equipment.
  • Complete recipe downloads and updates for OEM and DeltaV systems.
  • Review SDLC documentation during investigations, including Functional Specifications, Design Specifications and Code Reviews.

Compliance
  • Comply with Global Policies, Procedures and Guidelines, regulatory requirements and current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) requirements in the performance of day-to-day activities.

Qualifications

Required Skills & Experience & Qualifications
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar Automation Engineering role.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • experience with Siemens PLCs (S7), DeltaV and/or Historian systems.
  • Siemens S7 PLC and/or DeltaV experience is essential.
  • Experience troubleshooting OEM and DeltaV systems.
  • Familiarity with networking and IT.
  • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in Excel, SharePoint, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Very strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Relevant Computer Science or Engineering degree or equivalent.
  • Fluent English, both written and verbal.
