Senior Quantity Surveyor
Location: Midlands, Ireland
Salary: €80,000–€120,000 DOE

About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor / Estimator to take a leading role in the commercial delivery of multiple civil engineering and infrastructure projects across the Midlands.
This is a senior-level position with significant commercial responsibility and an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Quantity Surveyor to progress towards a Commercial Manager position.
The successful candidate will work closely with Project Managers, General Works Managers, site teams, subcontractors, clients and consultants to ensure projects are delivered commercially, efficiently and to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the development and implementation of commercial strategies across assigned projects.
Take full commercial responsibility for designated projects throughout their lifecycle.
Conduct feasibility studies and commercial assessments to support project decision-making.
Manage project cost control, budgeting, forecasting and cost-benefit analysis.
Prepare, negotiate and agree project valuations, variations and final accounts.
Produce regular Cost Value Reconciliation (CVR) and commercial reports.
Identify, manage and report on project risks and commercial opportunities.
Prepare and manage claims, contractual notices and associated commercial documentation.
Support contract administration and ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
Participate in estimating and tendering activities, including the preparation of competitive tender submissions.
Work collaboratively with pre-construction, design and delivery teams.
Lead negotiations with clients, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers.
Mentor and support junior Quantity Surveyors, contributing to their professional development.
Provide strong commercial leadership and contribute to the continued improvement of commercial processes.
Key Requirements
Proven experience working as a Senior Quantity Surveyorwithin the civil engineering, infrastructure or construction sector.
Strong knowledge of contract administration and commercial management.
Demonstrable experience managing contracts valued at €5M+.
Strong understanding of cost control, forecasting, valuations, variations, claims and final accounts.
Experience preparing and managing CVRs and commercial reports.
Strong contract negotiation and dispute-resolution skills.
Ability to provide effective commercial leadership and influence key stakeholders.
Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
Strong commercial awareness with excellent attention to detail.
Ability to work confidently with clients, consultants, subcontractors and internal teams.
A proactive and commercially driven approach to project delivery.
Qualifications Professional Development
Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, Commercial Management or a related discipline.
Chartered status or active progression towards chartership through SCSI, RICS, CIOB or equivalent is advantageous.
Strong knowledge of contract law, commercial frameworks and dispute resolution.
Commitment to ongoing professional development and keeping up to date with industry standards and best practice.
