Job Title: Commissioning Engineer (MV Switchgear)
Reports To: Powertrain Deployment Manager
Function: Service - Project Management
Location: EMEA Wide
JOB SUMMARY
The Commissioning Engineer is responsible for all testing related activities including dead testing, live testing & relay / protection logic integration. This includes first startup and any subsequent fault finding and issue resolution. Engineers will be expected to travel and attend customer sites for all works including both Vertiv testing and Customer testing regimes. Engineer will be expected to act in a lead capacity both undertaking work and offering management / guidance to Vertiv local engineers and subcontractors.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- ENGINEERING-
- Carry out tasks relating to pre-energisation testing (L2), energized testing (L3)
- Undertake reconnection works between cubicles/sections as required
- Support Customer / Vertiv commissioning managers through all levels of testing (L2-L5) and be subject expert for MV equipment
- Commission and test equipment functional requirements including relay and protection logic
- Collect and collate testing results/technical reports as per Vertiv/Customer requirements
- Fault finding & issue resolution with equipment
- Actively participate onsite to report commissioning progress & issues etc.
- Support on customer factory witness tests as required in vertiv factory locations
- TRAVELLING - The role includes extensive travel (circa 80%) within EMEA to support Project Deployment. Working with internal and external partners for the project lifecycle from implementation through to final closure.
- ORGANISATION -
- Provide support to commissioning/project management divisions with technical & progress updates
- Attend customer meetings as required to be technical authority
- Act as a lead engineer onsite when required assisting with the management of other vertiv employees and subcontractors

TECHNICAL - Maintain a high level of knowledge regarding current and future vertiv products/business units. Act as technical authority for diagnostic & fault finding. Feedback into the R&D process for continuous improvement. Be prepared to manage teams but also maintain training and technical expertise ready to partake in commissioning activities as required
- COMMUNICATION - Ensures communication is clear and in line with the business culture. Actively seeks and develops opportunities for mutually beneficial relationships throughout the connected business departments, specifically Sales and Service. Particular focus should be applied to effective communication when dealing with external stakeholders.
- MEETINGS - Attends and actively participates in meetings with the business and clients.
- HEALTH & SAFETY - Ensures all regulatory and business critical Health & Safety guidelines are followed at all times without compromise. Empowers engineering teams to 'stop work' as required and leads the resolutions to issues. Follows all Vertiv issued methods of works and risk assessments and raises potential issues excluded or requires amendment within the RAMS

QUALIFICATIONS / COMPETENCIES
- Training in the MV field / certificate of competence for MV equipment
- Degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant academic discipline.
- 5+ years in the electrical industry or similar.
- 2+ years in a MV field service role and/or customer interface role.
- Driving license
- Strong IT skills with std Microsoft office applications
