UCC wishes to appoint an administrator to the role of Universal Design Project Manager. Reporting to the Dean of Interdisciplinary and Inclusion, the Universal Design UCC project is focused on fostering an inclusive learning and working environment at UCC that reflects the principles of Universal Design, ensuring all staff and students regardless of background, ability, or circumstance can access, participate in, and contribute to university life.
The project advances UCC's Vision which "connects and empowers people to create knowledge that shapes a sustainable and inclusive world" and its Mission "to create and sustain an inclusive environment and culture to enable transformative research and learning for the enrichment of society and stewardship of our planet." It will support two of UCC's Strategic Goals, Goal 2.5 and Goal 4.2, and advances several of the university's strategic approaches, priority actions, and enablers, particularly in the areas of People, Wellbeing, and Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI). It will also cohere with national developments in this area including the Altitude Charter, ALTITUDE - National Charter for Universal Design in Tertiary Education. The project seeks to mainstream and embed Universal Design at UCC, encompassing both university students and staff. UCC is committed to ensuring that physical and digital spaces, learning environments, communication methods, and services are accessible, equitable, and usable by all members of the campus community.
To advance the implementation of Universal Design at university level, a Universal Design Unit will be configured to coordinate the university's Universal Design Action Plan, in line with university strategy. Working with stakeholders and working group Leads, the Unit will coordinate, and embed Universal Design principles across the university services, physical estate and environments, ensuring they are accessible, understandable, and usable by all individuals, regardless of age, ability, or background.

Appointment may be made on the Admin II Salary Scale: €73,492 - €93,094 (Scale B) / €69,929 - €88,440 (Scale A).
Salary placement on appointment will be in accordance with public sector pay policy.
