Purpose of the Role
The purpose of this post is to:
Children's Health Ireland (CHI) provides secondary and tertiary ENT services nationally and delivers emergency care for children residing on the north side of Dublin. The establishment of the ENT Nursing Department has significantly enhanced service delivery by reducing hospital admissions and length of stay, decreasing repeat outpatient attendances, and improving the quality, safety and continuity of patient care.
The post holder will be responsible for the leadership, coordination, management and ongoing development of nursing services within the ENT Department. As a Clinical Nurse Manager 2, the successful candidate will provide clinical and operational leadership to ensure the delivery of safe, effective, evidence-based and child-centred care.
This fixed-term post has been established to support strategic service improvement initiatives aimed at reducing and rationalising ENT waiting lists, improving access to specialist assessment and treatment, and enhancing the patient journey. A key priority of the role will be the development, implementation and expansion of nurse-led tonsil assessment and follow-up clinics, supporting more efficient patient management, reducing waiting times for review and treatment, and improving the overall patient and family experience.
Through advanced clinical practice, service innovation, audit, quality improvement and multidisciplinary collaboration, the post holder will contribute to improved clinical outcomes and the development of sustainable paediatric ENT services within CHI.
Eligibility criteria, qualifications and experience
• Be registered in the Children's Division of the Register of Nurses maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) or be eligible for such registration.
• Have a minimum of five years post-registration experience in paediatric ENT.
• Have a minimum of three years' experience in children's nursing.
• Demonstrate evidence of leadership and service development experience.
• Demonstrate excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrate commitment to ongoing professional development.
• Have the clinical knowledge and experience required to manage children with ENT conditions.
