Overview

The Senior Project Manager will lead planning, mobilisation, governance and delivery coordination for the Box to SharePoint migration. The role must provide structure, momentum and executive confidence while working across business, technology, compliance, application and change stakeholders. The PM must be capable of quickly establishing control in an ambiguous environment, supporting the business case within four weeks and then transitioning into delivery leadership for the migration programme.

Responsibilities

  • Mobilise the project rapidly and establish governance, cadence, reporting, RAID management, decision logs and delivery controls.
  • Support the creation of the business case within the first four weeks, including scope validation, options analysis, timeline assumptions, cost inputs, risk profile and executive decision material.
  • Lead stakeholder engagement across executive, business, SME, application, IT, SharePoint, security and change stakeholders.
  • Coordinate discovery of the current Box estate, including content ownership, usage, permissions, application dependencies, integrations, data quality and migration complexity.
  • Develop and maintain the integrated project plan covering discovery, design, migration, testing, cutover, change adoption, hypercare and BAU transition.
  • Establish the migration wave plan, prioritisation criteria and readiness checkpoints for all 15 application areas.
  • Apply enhanced controls for the three validated applications, including documented requirements, test evidence, approval gates, validation traceability and controlled sign-off.
  • Ensure risks and issues are visible, actively managed and escalated appropriately to senior stakeholders.
  • Drive decision-making and remove blockers through clear communication, structured escalation and well-prepared governance forums.
  • Ensure change management activities are embedded into the plan, including stakeholder analysis, communications, training, readiness, adoption and post-go-live support.
  • Coordinate with SharePoint and M365 technical teams to ensure the target platform, permissions model, information architecture and migration tooling are fit for purpose.
  • Manage supplier, offshore or nearshore delivery resources where applicable, ensuring clear roles, outputs, timelines and quality expectations.
  • Maintain executive-ready reporting that provides clear progress, risks, decisions required, milestones, dependencies and confidence levels.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field, or equivalent work experience
  • One or more industry certifications e.g. Prince 2, PMP etc.

Desired skills

  • Calm, credible and confident when dealing with senior stakeholders.
  • Highly structured, organised and delivery-focused.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to produce executive-ready packs and decision papers.
  • Strong facilitation skills, with the ability to run workshops across technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proactive in identifying risks, dependencies and decisions before they become delivery blockers.
  • Pragmatic and outcome-focused, with the ability to balance governance rigour with delivery pace.
  • Collaborative and trusted by SMEs, technical teams, business stakeholders and executive sponsors.
  • Resilient under pressure and able to maintain momentum in a fixed-timeframe project.

Experience

  • Strong SharePoint and Microsoft 365 project experience, ideally including migration from legacy repositories, content platforms or file-sharing solutions.
  • Experience with Box, document management platforms, information governance or enterprise content migration would be highly advantageous.
  • Demonstrable ability to support business case development, including options analysis, delivery approach, cost assumptions, benefits, risks and executive decision papers.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with proven ability to operate at executive level and translate technical complexity into clear business language.
  • Strong governance discipline, including project planning, RAID, status reporting, dependency management, change control and steering committee preparation.
  • Experience working with validated applications, regulated environments, audit requirements, controlled testing or formal sign-off processes would be highly beneficial.
  • Strong change management experience, including stakeholder impact assessment, communications planning, training coordination, adoption planning and readiness tracking.
