Role Profile
The School of Electronic Engineering is seeking to appoint a Technical Officer / Senior Technical Officer to underpin the practical electronic and computer engineering activities of the School across its teaching, research and engagement programmes.
The successful candidate will join a team of Technical Officers, reporting to the School's Chief Technical Officer, with responsibility for the support of experimental equipment and laboratories in the School. The successful candidate will have excellent technical, communication and interpersonal skills, a flexible approach to work and a willingness to assist with new developments in line with Faculty/University Strategy.
Our technical staff support undergraduate, taught postgraduate and research students through the deployment and enhancement of our laboratory infrastructure, and technical support for standard and specialised experiments and through contributions to the wider activities of the School. The team is instrumental in supporting final-year and capstone projects, curriculum redevelopment, student research activity and outreach programmes. The team also periodically supports relevant needs across the Faculty/University.
The appointee will have a role in mentoring, training and the support of teaching related to analogue and digital electronics, embedded systems and the Internet of Things (IoT), communications and networking, electronic test & measurement, and mechatronic systems, as well as student projects and demonstrations. The successful candidate will also contribute to the redevelopment of technical content within programmes, offering advice on modern electronic prototyping, instrumentation and measurement methods, and emerging embedded/edge computing technologies. They will be expected to contribute directly to instruction and training, supervision of laboratory and project sessions, student mentoring and advice related to final-year and capstone projects.

Salary Scale:
Technical Officer / Senior Technical Officer - €42,153 - €73,382 (refer to DCU Payscales for the applicable payscale for the role.)
Appointment will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and in line with current Government pay policy.
