Title of Post: Post Doctoral Researcher (Level 1 or Level 2) in Inverse Problems
JOB SYNOPSIS
This Post Doctoral Researcher position is part of the Research Ireland-funded project Inverse Problems for Sustainable Living in Ireland (IP-SUSTAIN). The project aims to advance both the mathematical theory and the computational methodologies of Inverse Problems arising in geophysical imaging. In particular, it will develop new uniqueness, stability, and reconstruction results for the anisotropic Calderón's inverse conductivity problem (Electrical Impedance Tomography), with applications to the identification of geothermal reservoirs and critical mineral deposits. The project will also establish novel mathematical frameworks for the joint inversion of hydraulic and electrical measurements, combining groundwater flow models with Electrical Impedance Tomography to improve the characterisation of aquifers. The researcher will be based in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics and MACSI - Mathematics Applications Consortium for Science and Industry, at the University of Limerick and will work closely with an international team of collaborators in Italy, France, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

Salary Scale: Level 1 €47,273 - €53,915 p.a. pro rata
Level 2 €55,399 - €60,250 p.a. pro rata (maximum starting salary €55,399 p.a. pro rata)
