Location: Foynes, Co. Limerick
We are seeking an organised, proactive and customer-focused Ship Agent to join our team based at the Port of Foynes.
As a Ship Agent, you will play a key role in coordinating the arrival, turnaround and departure of commercial vessels calling to the port. Working with ship masters, cargo interests, terminal operators and port authorities, you'll ensure every vessel receives efficient, professional support from arrival through to departure.
No two days are the same. This is an exciting and varied role offering the opportunity to build a long-term career within the maritime and logistics industry.
Previous ship agency experience is desirable but not essential.We welcome applications from candidates with experience in logistics, transport, operations, administration or customer service who are looking for a new challenge. Full training will be provided to the right candidate.
The Role
As a Ship Agent, you will:
Coordinate all aspects of vessel port calls from pre-arrival through to departure.
Liaise with ship masters, ship owners, cargo interests, terminal operators and port authorities.
Arrange essential port services including pilots, tugs, mooring crews and stevedores.
Handle paperwork for customs, immigration and other regulatory authorities
Attend vessels when required to support arrivals, departures and operational activities.
Monitor cargo operations and help ensure vessels are turned around safely and efficiently.
Coordinate crew changes, medical assistance and other vessel requirements.
Maintain accurate operational records and prepare post-call reports and accounts.
Ensure all activities comply with company procedures, safety standards and port regulations.
Working Hours:
Normal working hours are 08:00 to 17:00, Monday to Friday. However, due to the nature of port operations, the role also requires participation in an out-of-hours rota to support vessel operations. Out-of-hours work is paid in accordance with the company's overtime policy.
Essential Requirements:
Leaving Certificate or equivalent education standard required
Fluency in English both spoken and written
Strong organisational and time-management skills with the ability to work under pressure.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Computer literate with strong proficiency in Microsoft Office and operational reporting systems.
Full clean driving licence and willingness to attend vessels outside normal working hours when required.
