Job Purpose
• The post holder contributes to the ongoing development of the Regional Quality and Patient Safety Strategy and Model. The post holder then implements this model across their IHA.
• In line with Regional and National requirements the post holder will ensure that appropriate governance structures are in place to manage, monitor and report on the performance of quality and safety of services across their area of responsibility
• Will actively contribute to the delivery of safe, quality driven patient/client centered services
• Will support and contribute to the development of clinical governance structures to manage and monitor quality and patient safety across Networks and systems of care as they develop within their area of responsibility.
• The Post Holder will play a key role in supporting and directing the IHA towards the achievement of service objectives in line with Regional and National objectives.
• Will implement standardised quality, safety and service improvement strategies in planning, implementation and performance of all IHA services.
• Will be required to support, develop and implement structures, systems and processes across the IHA to support the quality and safety agenda and ensure compliance with legislation and regulatory standards and requirements.
• Will be required to support and promote professional development of staff in areas related to QPS.
• The Post Holder will take part in and drive the IHA's Performance in a range of QPS Metrics in line with the Regional Performance Programme. coordinate the collection, measurement, analysis and presentation of data required for monitoring quality and patient safety indicators in line with the Regional Performance Programme and relevant National KPIs.
• The Post Holder will drive the use of data and measurement for improvement across their IHA.
• Actively promotes and contributes to a learning culture across their IHA and the region.
Essential Criteria
Candidates must have at the latest date of application:
Qualification Criteria:
• A relevant professional qualification in a Health and Social Care profession or Nursing and where appropriate statutory registration or professional registration / accreditation.
OR
• A relevant 3rd level healthcare quality qualification i.e. Quality and Qualifications Ireland Level 9 or equivalent).
Experience:
• Extensive experience at a senior management level in healthcare is required, with a focus on quality, risk, patient safety and service improvement.
• A strong track record of delivering organizational change and working in a complex environment
• Demonstrates strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Have demonstrated capacity to achieve results through multidisciplinary and cross sectoral working
• Experience of managing and working collaboratively with multiple internal and external stakeholders, as relevant to the role.
• A track record of successful and innovative leadership.
• Experience in incident management and investigations.
• Strong ability in data analysis and using data for improvement.
• Have the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability and management ability) for the proper discharge of the duties of the office.
• Experience of budget planning, financial management and resource management processes

A candidate for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service
