Applications are invited for a temporary post of a Research Programme Manager within UCD School of Mathematics and Statistics.
This is a temporary post arising from a funding award of €5M over 5 years from Met Éireann to support the creation of a PhD cohort-training programme and the establishment of the Aimsir centre in Artificial Intelligence for Meteorological Services, Innovation and Research (www.ucd.ie/aimsir). The successful candidate will be expected to work alongside the Met Éireann Full Professor of Data Science in Climate and Weather to build up the Research Centre and ensure its continued success.
This position is for a Research Programme Manager to assist with management of the research centre, and its affiliated funding through the Research Ireland Decarb-AI Innovate for Ireland centre. The centre is training 20-30 PhD candidates, as well as post-doctoral research fellows. The Programme Manager will also contribute to the running of the new MSc programme in AI for Weather and Climate. The graduates will be future leaders in AI applied to climate change and weather forecasting. Aimsir is a collaboration between the University College Dublin School of Mathematics and Statistics and the UCD Earth Institute.
Important note for applicants / Particular to this Position: Hybrid working options are possible, but the successful candidate must be willing to spend at least 3 days per week on the UCD campus, with occasional trips to Met Éireann (in Glasnevin) as necessary.
Salary Range: €75,000 - €86,000 Per Annum
Appointment on the above range will be dependent upon qualifications and experience.
