Trinity College Dublin seeks a postdoctoral researcher to work on the Valuing Nature project
A highly motivated individual is sought to join a transdisciplinary research team to work on the Valuing Nature Project. This position is funded by the AIB Trinity Climate Hub. The successful applicant will be based in Trinity Business School, working with the Business and Nature Hub with Professors Martha O'Hagan, Catherine Farrell and Jane Stout.
Valuing Nature Project
The Valuing Nature research project is part of a highly transdisciplinary research programme to increase capacity and expertise in natural capital accounting and advance approaches to assessing ecosystem stocks and flows in an Irish context. The research will encompass three main research themes focussed on developing robust methodology to
• assess ecosystem services and socio-economic benefits
• link the flows of services explicitly to stocks of underlying natural assets (ecosystem extent and condition), and
• advance valuation approaches (monetary and non-monetary) to ecosystem stocks and flows.
Job specifications
Post status: Up to 12 month Specific Purpose Contract
The duration of this contract is limited to the above-fixed term so that the successful candidate can complete work on the project. This contract is, therefore, not being offered on a permanent basis, as the specific scope of responsibilities associated with this role aligns with the externally funded project timeline and deliverables and is expected to conclude within the period outlined.
Hours of Post: Full-time, 35 hours per week
Salary: This appointment will be made on the Post-Doctoral Researcher Salary Scale (€46,805 - €47,405 per annum) at a point depending on experience, in line with current Irish Universities Association University Research Salary Scales/Guidelines.
Start date: September 1st 2026
