Lecturer in Pharmacology
In 2025, ATU obtained accreditation and commenced its new Master of Pharmacy, as part of a Government of Ireland initiative to expand learning opportunities in healthcare professional programmes nationally. ATU's new MPharm programme significant enhances opportunities for students in the Northwest and nationally to study pharmacy. The programme strategically contributes to addressing shortages of pharmacists and pharmacy services across Irish health services, both nationally and regionally.
The Faculty of Science & Health is ambitious to enhance its offering of high-quality accredited health professional programmes. In addition to the MPharm programme in 2025, the Faculty launched its new BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy programme and in 2026, a new Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery (BVMS) programme and an MSc in Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics will commence.
ATU's Sligo Campus has state-of-the-art laboratories, as well as facilities and resources for both teaching and research. Major infrastructural developments on the Sligo Campus in recent years include the 4400m2 MacMunn Science Building (2014) and a new 4500m2 STEM building opened in 2023 with associated cleanroom. Also in 2025, ATU opened its new dedicated Pharmacy Professional Practice Centre, with a dedicated Dispensary Lab and Consultation Area, in addition to the commissioning of two dedicated science laboratories for pharmacy and pharmaceutical sciences.
This new post of Lecturer in Pharmacology is a unique opportunity for an academic with experience in delivering education and professional programmes at Higher Education level to join the new Department of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences at ATU's Sligo campus. As a new Technological University, ATU welcomes applicants with interests in research, enterprise and innovation engagement particularly where this is cognate with ATU's priorities, and supports the pharmacy programme's profile and regional engagement.
