Assistant Lecturer - Life Sciences
This Assistant Lecturer post relates primarily to the teaching of applied life sciences across a broad range of sub-disciplines including biomedical/(bio)pharmaceutical and forensic sciences, principally within the Department of Life Sciences/School of Life Sciences, and Faculty of Science and Health.
The successful candidate will be required to undertake lecturing and associated duties (on-site and online) pertaining to a range of modules up to and including Level 9 within the Faculty, with special emphasis on aspects of fundamental and advanced life sciences and related areas in industrial, clinical, and other applied contexts within existing and new courses.
The successful candidate will also be required to supervise research and engage in the development of new full-time on-site/online courses.
This post will involve teaching in areas that encompass a broad spectrum of applied topics in biopharmaceutical sciences relevant to disciplines across the Faculty including, but not limited to, analytical science, biological and biomedical sciences, bioprocessing, cell biology and regulation, molecular biology, immunology, biotechnology, pharmacology/(bio)pharmaceutical science, separation science, and industrial life sciences and will be expected to develop and enhance related discipline areas at ATU Sligo Campus, providing leadership and expertise in a manner which engages with the student body and ensures that the students understand the relevance and application of their core learning.
Similarly, all new academic staff will be expected to champion the development of new viable courses for whole-time or part-time delivery in disciplines with the broad subject area cognate with the title of the post, engage in relevant research, which will expand the research expertise and activity in the Faculty.
