The Role:

BnM currently has an opening for an Automation Maintenance Technician to join our team. The Generating Assets are maintained by small core teams, each consisting of Maintenance Technicians working under the direction and leadership of a Maintenance Engineer. The Automation Technicians report to the Automation Engineer and carry responsibility for achieving challenging maintenance, engineering, commercial, safety, environmental, quality and personal development targets.

The main duties and responsibilities of the role will include the following:

• Ensure maintenance plans and targets for the team are achieved safely, economically, and within the environmental limits of the Generating Plants. Carry out planned maintenance (PM) and other works, record activities in the Maintenance Management System, and maintain all necessary quality documentation.
• Carry out preventative maintenance on the control and instrumentation systems for all assets, including calibration of process instruments such as pH measurement and other analytical instruments, pressure, flow, level, and instruments, as scheduled by the Maintenance Management System.
• Provide technical support to operations teams by responding to alarms, investigating equipment failures, and resolving control system issues. Strong troubleshooting skills are required to identify root causes and implement lasting solutions that improve reliability and reduce repeat failures.
• Work independently and alongside other teams to provide a high-quality maintenance resource focused on achieving high plant availability. Respond to operational requests to investigate faults on instruments and control systems. Carry out preventative maintenance on stack emission monitoring equipment and ensure the monitoring system is working correctly.
• Install new instruments as required and carry out modifications to the Distributed Control System (DCS) and other plant control SCADA systems as required.
• Carry out modifications to PLC controllers as necessary in response to changes in plant equipment or operating philosophy. Review and order spare parts as required.

• Proactively participate in the Performance Management process to ensure delivery of own, and the wider team's objectives.
• The technician is also involved in continuous improvement activities, identifying opportunities to improve plant performance, reliability, and maintenance effectiveness. This includes supporting outage activities, commissioning new equipment, and implementing automation enhancements. The successful candidate will be proactive and creative in problem-solving

What we're looking for:
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualification, skills, knowledge, and attributes:

• Automation Technicians should possess appropriate technical qualifications (C&G, ONC, B.Tech, HNC, or equivalent), including a recognised apprenticeship.
• A minimum of 5 years' experience.
• Experience with 3rd Party support providers in delivering upgrades and other projects. Experience in Instrument Control/Automation within the operations of power plants and wind farms.
• A strong understanding of Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems, and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs). Hands-on experience with DCS, SCADA, PLC, RTU, and similar technologies.
