About the Role
As Meetings & Events Sales Manager, you will take responsibility for maximising revenue, profitability and guest satisfaction across the hotel's Meetings & Events department.
Working closely with the Hotel Manager, Director of Sales and wider operational team, you will develop commercial opportunities, convert enquiries into confirmed business and ensure that every event is delivered in line with the client's requirements.
This is a hands-on leadership position. You will manage and develop the Meetings & Events team while maintaining a visible presence across the operation, particularly during significant conferences, dinners and events.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement sales strategies to achieve the hotel's Meetings & Events revenue targets.
- Build strong relationships with corporate clients, event organisers, conference planners and local businesses.
- Work closely with the Director of Sales to identify new business opportunities and strengthen the hotel's Meetings & Events pipeline.
- Ensure negotiated conference and event rates support the hotel's revenue and profitability objectives.
- Meet prospective and returning clients, conduct hotel show-rounds and understand their individual event requirements.
- Translate client requirements into clear operational plans for the Meetings & Events and Food & Beverage teams.
- Oversee meetings, conferences, dinners and events from initial planning through to successful delivery.
- Ensure function rooms are prepared according to client specifications, including room layout, lighting, equipment, comfort and temperature.
- Respond professionally to last-minute changes and find practical solutions that protect the guest experience.
- Follow up with clients after their events, gather feedback and identify opportunities for repeat business.
- Ensure event charges and billing are accurate and completed before the guest's departure.
- Prepare the departmental business plan and budget, monitor performance and take action where results differ from forecast.
- Conduct regular inspections and service audits across the hotel's Meetings & Events facilities.
- Manage, motivate and develop Meetings & Events Supervisors and Assistants.
- Identify training and development needs while supporting colleagues with career progression.
- Maintain high standards of guest service, food safety, health and safety and legal compliance.
No two days in Meetings & Events are exactly the same. Your day could include:
- Meeting a corporate client and showing them the hotel's conference facilities.
- Working with the Director of Sales on a strategy to secure new corporate or conference business.
- Reviewing upcoming events with the operational team and confirming final client requirements.
- Inspecting a function room before delegates arrive.
- Supporting your team during a high-profile conference or private dinner.
- Reviewing revenue performance, event pricing and departmental costs.
- Following up with a client after their event and discussing their next booking.
We would like to hear from candidates with:
- Approximately two to three years' experience in a four- or five-star hotel environment.
- Previous experience in Meetings & Events sales, event coordination, conference and banqueting, hotel sales or a comparable hospitality role.
- A strong commercial mindset and the ability to identify and convert business opportunities.
- Excellent communication, presentation and relationship-building skills.
- Strong organisational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
- A genuine commitment to guest care and delivering memorable experiences.
- The ability to remain calm, adaptable and solutions-focused when event requirements change.
- Previous supervisory, team-lead or management experience-or the ambition and capability to progress into a management position.
- Confidence working collaboratively with Sales, Food & Beverage, Front Office, Revenue and Hotel Operations.
- A good standard of written and spoken English.
- Flexibility to work according to the requirements of the Meetings & Events business.
- A relevant hospitality, hotel management, events or sales qualification.
- Previous experience working with a recognised hotel brand.
- Knowledge of hotel property-management, event-management or CRM systems.
- Food Safety, First Aid or Manual Handling certification.
