Job Purpose

Antimicrobial Stewardship in Connolly Hospital aims to optimise antimicrobial selection, dosing, route and duration of therapy to maximise clinical cure or prevention of infection while slowing down antibiotic resistance development. The Antimicrobial Pharmacist, as a member of the antimicrobial stewardship team, is responsible for the implementation of the antimicrobial stewardship programme in the hospital. The antimicrobial pharmacist works with the other members of the team to develop and implement guidelines and policies, monitors and audits antimicrobial usage in Connolly Hospital, and provides advice and education to other healthcare professionals to ensure safe, effective and cost-effective use of antimicrobials.

This campaign is confined to staff directly employed and currently working a minimum of 28 hours per week or currently working full time, 35 hours per week as a Senior Pharmacist in Connolly Hospital

There is currently 1 permanent, part-time (0.8WTE) vacancy available in the Pharmacy Department in Connolly Hospital.

Where staff are currently employed as Full Time (1.0WTE), 0.2WTE per week will be dedicated to clinical duties

Essential Criteria

This campaign is confined to staff directly employed and currently working a minimum of 28 hours per week or currently working full time, 35 hours per week as a Senior Pharmacist in Connolly Hospital

Candidates must have at the latest date of application:

  1. Professional Qualifications, Experience, etc
    • Candidates must,


  • Be a registered Pharmacist with the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland (PSI) or be entitled to be so


And
  • Have at least three years satisfactory post registration hospital experience.


And

  • Possess the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability and management ability) for the proper discharge of the duties of the


  1. Health

Candidates for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.
