UCD Post-doctoral Research Fellow Level 1, UCD School of Earth Sciences - iCRAG, Temporary 24-month

UCD Post-doctoral Research Fellow Level 1 within UCD School of Earth Sciences - iCRAG

We invite applications for a position of Post-Doctoral Research Fellow for a research project awarded to Dr Koen Torremans as part of the Research Ireland Centre for Applied Geosciences (iCRAG) at the UCD School of Earth Sciences. The research project is called "Enhancing orebody understanding and near-mine mineral exploration at Galmoy", and it aims to advance our scientific understanding of the structural controls, hydrothermal alteration footprints, and sulphide mineral chemistry at an active Irish-type Zn-Pb mine, and to translate this into exploration and mining geology. The successful applicant will join a research group of 12 members. The post-doctoral research fellow will assist in integrating mineralogical, hyperspectral and geochemical characterisation of hydrothermal alteration haloes associated with mineralisation at the Galmoy deposit and across the Rathdowney Trend. This work directly contributes to the sustainable supply of high-grade, low-impact mining of strategic raw materials in Europe.

Post Doc Level 1 Salary Scale. Salary Range: €47,273 - €53,925 per annum

Appointment on the above range will be dependent upon qualifications and experience.

Closing date: 12:00 noon (local Irish time) on 14-August-2026

Applications must be submitted by the closing date and time specified. Any applications which are still in progress at the closing time of 12:00 noon (Local Irish Time) on the specified closing date will be cancelled automatically by the system. UCD are unable to accept late applications.
