What is the opportunity?
As a Senior Cloud Platform Engineer, you'll help shape and run secure, scalable cloud platforms that enable teams across the Bank to build and deploy services with confidence.
You'll focus on automation, strong guardrails and resilient design, with a particular emphasis on enabling AI services in our cloud environments.
This role offers the chance to work at scale, influence standards, and make a real impact on how cloud is adopted across Bank of Ireland.

You bring strong experience designing and operating cloud platforms, with a solid understanding of security, governance and automation. You're comfortable working with AWS services such as Lambda, Identity and Access Management (IAM), networking and logging, and you enjoy building reusable Infrastructure as Code modules using tools like CloudFormation, Python and Terraform.
You communicate clearly, collaborate well with technical and non-technical colleagues, and enjoy documenting patterns and sharing knowledge.
A curious mindset and a drive to improve how platforms are built and used will help you succeed in this role.

You'll join our Cloud Centre of Excellence which is part of Technology Services and Infrastructure Operations.
The team's purpose is to enable the Bank by providing secure, stable and modern technology platforms that support our customers and colleagues.
Acting as trusted advisors, the team drives cloud adoption as a foundation for digital transformation, while continuously improving security, resilience and ways of working. You'll work alongside experienced engineers and architects who value collaboration, learning and practical problem-solving.
This is a hybrid role, based primarily in IT Centre Cabinteely. We typically ask colleagues to spend a minimum of 8 days per month working in-person to support teamwork and connection. Specific arrangements will be confirmed by your recruiter to ensure they meet the needs of the role and team.

- Design, build and run secure, highly available cloud platform services across Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure, with a focus on enabling AI workloads.
- Develop automation and serverless solutions, using Infrastructure as Code and continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) practices.
- Implement and operate cloud landing zones, including account provisioning, governance controls and security guardrails.
- Partner with Cloud Architects and engineering teams to translate designs into practical, reliable solutions and promote platform standards.
- Monitor, optimise and continuously improve platform components to ensure reliability, performance and compliance.
