Salary: NCAD Grade VI - €57,897 - €70,733* per annum (pro rata €28,948.50 - €35,366.50)

*Candidates should note that as per Department of Finance guidelines, entry will be at the first point of the salary scale and the rate of remuneration may be adjusted from time to time in line with government pay policy. Candidates should note that different pay and conditions may apply if, immediately prior to appointment, the appointee is a serving civil or public servant.

Annual Leave: Annual Leave will be 2.5 working days per annum. This leave is exclusive of public holidays.

Hours of Attendance: Working hours will be 17.5 hours per week (net of rest breaks).

Location: This position is based at NCAD, 100 Thomas Street, Dublin

Role Purpose:

Based in Academic Registry / Student & Academic Affairs and reporting to the Head of Academic Registry, the Data Analyst will be responsible for developing a student data infrastructure for NCAD, making it possible for the College to leverage insights from institutional data in the delivery and implementation of institutional planning and the achievement of strategic goals and ambitions. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing a robust data infrastructure including data models, dashboards, and analytical and statistical reports to monitor and report on student profiles as well as programme and student performance and outcomes.

This role is a specified purpose role funded by the Targeted Enhancement Fund (TEF), this funding is time-bound and the objectives of the funding are to:
• Provide targeted support for initiatives that are critical to the strategic development of NCAD.
• Contribute towards enhancement initiatives that will strengthen the performance of NCAD.
• To consolidate NCAD's position in the higher education landscape.
• Facilitate the development and/or continuation of initiatives that further national policy and priorities.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will:

- Work with internal colleagues and stakeholders to identify and review relevant available and accessible student data sources.

- Identify enhancements to current data collection practices that will support the development of student data analysis in the College.

- Create a live tool that will support the ongoing management and development of the student data infrastructure.

- Design and maintain dashboards, data visualisations, and analytical and statistical reports using tools such as Microsoft Power BI.

- Employ quantitative and qualitative methods to support institutional research processes and understanding of student performance related data.

- Develop a set of standardised reports constituting an Institutional Profile of key student related performance indicators to include applicant and admissions data, student numbers, progression, graduate outcomes, applicant / student and graduate profiles, including equity of access requirements.

- Undertake any other such appropriate duties, which may be assigned from time to time by their Line Manager

Mandatory Criteria

- A primary degree (NFQ Level 8 or higher)

- A minimum of three years experience in data analysis, reporting, or business intelligence roles.

- Demonstrated experience in analysing large datasets, developing reports, and presenting data insights.

- Understanding of data quality and data management, transformation and modelling techniques.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Power BI (or similar data visualisation tools).

- Experience in interpreting and applying data in support of institutional planning and quality processes.

- Ability to communicate complex data clearly and effectively to a wide range of audiences.

- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, with a demonstrable ability to foster engagement across a range of stakeholders.

- Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Desirable Criteria

- Knowledge of data-informed decision-making and data requirements in the Irish Higher Education context.

- Experience developing and documenting data management processes and procedures.

- Understanding of IT systems relevant to Institute specific data.

- Relevant certifications in analytics, data management, or project management.
