Legacy Officer, Philanthropy, Dublin

Location: Dublin

Contract: Full time, Permanent 

This is a hybrid position with dedicated office days, and reports to the Philanthropy Manager, the Legacy Officer supports the development and stewardship of the Legacy portfolio, along with supporting Major Donors and Trust Foundations. This position will work closely with members of the Partnership Philanthropy Team, wider Fundraising team and Senior Management to both acquire new donors and steward successful relationships in developing Focus Ireland’s potential with these supporters.

What you will do:

  • Deliver and contribute to achieving ambitious annual fundraising targets of €3.75 million as a key member of the Philanthropy team.

  • Develop, manage and grow relationships with legacy pledgers, intenders, enquirers and considerers to secure future legacy income.

  • Implement and manage the legacy fundraising strategy, increasing pledge numbers and ensuring all gift notifications are handled efficiently, appropriately and promptly.

  • Support donor development throughout the full donor lifecycle, including cultivation, stewardship, personalised donor journeys, impact reporting and donor retention.

  • Identify, cultivate and steward Major Donors, Trusts Foundations, supporting all areas of the Philanthropy function.

  • Support the growth and development of Focus Ireland’s Women’s Philanthropy Circle and other strategic giving initiatives.

  • Develop, write and project manage annual appeals, impact reports, funding proposals, donor briefings and funding requests to secure philanthropic support.

  • Organise and manage donor meetings, cultivation activities and stewardship events, ensuring an exceptional standard of donor care at all stages.

  • Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders to integrate legacy and philanthropy messaging into organisational activities through training, guidance and support.

  • Analyse donor data, monitor performance and produce reports to inform fundraising strategy, decision-making and donor targeting.

  • Ensure compliance with charity regulations, data protection legislation, governance requirements and fundraising best practice, maintaining accurate CRM and information systems records.

  • Research and monitor trends, innovations and developments within the philanthropy, legacy fundraising and wider not-for-profit sector, including digital engagement channels.

  • Represent Focus Ireland professionally at all times, maintain confidentiality, participate in training and professional development, and support organisational activities, including travel and occasional out-of-hours commitments.

What you will need:

  • Relevant experience, with proven track record of income generation

  • Relevant 3rd level qualification or equal transferable experience or skills

  • Project, event, and budget management skills

  • Understands the motivations of supporters and can respond accordingly to them

  • Ability to create and present a compelling case for support

  • Ability to work as both a key member of a team as well as proactively working alone.

  • Ability to work to tight deadlines

  • Excellent relationship management skills with proven experience in account/customer/donor management

  • Proven ability to deliver on financial targets

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
