Financial Accountant

We are seeking a skilled and organised Financial Accountant to join our Group Finance team. This role will be responsible for managing day-to-day accounting activities, supporting month-end and year-end processes, and ensuring accurate financial reporting. The successful candidate will contribute to maintaining strong financial controls, providing reliable information for decision-making, and supporting the development of junior finance staff.
Responsibilities
Financial Accounting and Reporting
Prepare and process journal entries, reconciliations and accruals Support the preparation of management accounts and financial statements Assist with month-end and year-end close activities Maintain the general ledger and ensure the integrity of financial records Ensure compliance with accounting standards and statutory obligations in Ireland, the UK and EU
Support and Collaboration
Work closely with other finance teams, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and tax Respond to internal queries regarding accounting transactions and financial data Support audit processes by providing reconciliations, documentation and explanations Contribute to finance process improvement initiatives and system enhancements
Controls and Compliance
Ensure compliance with company policies, internal controls and statutory requirements Maintain accurate and auditable records for reporting and audit purposes Handle confidential financial information with discretion and integrity
Experience
Experience in an accounting or finance role within a multi-entity organisation Knowledge of accounting principles, reconciliations and financial reporting Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Excel Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy Excellent organisational and time management skills Effective communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Commitment to continuous improvement and professional development
Qualifications
Accounting or finance qualification desirable (e.g. Accounting Technician, AAT or equivalent) Ongoing study towards a professional accounting qualification advantageous Evidence of continued professional development beneficial
