Head of Civil Engineering - Data Centre Division

PM Group is a leading international project delivery firm, trusted by global clients to design, build, and deliver complex, high-performance facilities. Within our rapidly growing Data Centre sector, we are shaping scalable, sustainable, and future-ready infrastructure across Europe.

We are seeking a senior Head of Civil Engineering to lead and grow our civil engineering capability across multiple European offices within our Data Centre division.

This is a critical leadership role at the heart of delivering hyperscale and colocation developments-where early-stage civil engineering decisions directly impact project success, cost, programme, and long-term operational performance.

You will act as both Technical Authority and Team Leader, shaping strategy, driving design excellence, and leading a high-performing, multi-location team.

Location: Flexible - this role can be based from any PM Group office across our global network.

Responsibilities

As a key member of our design leadership team, you will:

• Define and lead the civil engineering strategy across multiple high-value projects
• Develop and deliver site-wide infrastructure and enabling works solutions for mission-critical environments
• Build and grow a high-performing, multi-location engineering team
• Act as a trusted advisor to major clients, influencing design direction at the highest level
• Drive innovation in areas such as site optimisation, sustainability, resilience, and constructability

You will play a central role in both engineering delivery and team development, including:

• Leading the planning and optimisation of site development, earthworks, drainage, and utilities infrastructure
• Providing hands-on technical leadership on critical and high-risk projects
• Developing scalable, efficient, and future-ready civil engineering solutions
• Managing key risks associated with ground conditions, flood resilience, and site constraints
• Mentoring and inspiring engineers, building a culture of collaboration and technical excellence
• Supporting client engagement, technical workshops, and strategic design discussions
• Contributing to business growth, bids, and capability development

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in civil engineering design within data centres, infrastructure, or mission-critical environments
• Strong understanding of site development, ground engineering, drainage, and utilities coordination
• A passion for developing people and building high-performing teams
• The ability to communicate complex ideas in a clear, practical, and engaging way
• Experience working with major clients and multidisciplinary delivery teams
• A commercially aware mindset with an ability to balance performance, risk, and value

Key Attributes:

• Degree in Engineering or related discipline
• Chartered status (or equivalent) preferred
• Passion for technical excellence, leadership, and delivery at scale
• Collaboration across teams, regions, and cultures
