The EHS Officer is accountable for ensuring safe, consistent, reliable contractor operations on site by providing leadership, managing process and personnel safety, environmental compliance, and ensuring site safety procedures are fully maintained.

The responsibilities and accountabilities of the role will include but are not limited to the following:

Responsibilities & Accountabilities

  • Support deliberate improvement in safety, health, environmental and housekeeping performance.
  • Issuing of Safe Work Permits for defined projects and in defined operational areas on site.
  • Reviewing and ensuring method statements, job risk assessments are accurate and pertinent.
  • Ensure 100% compliance of EHS requirements of site contractors including PPE use, incident reporting, safe completion of life critical activities and process safety.
  • Continually and deliberately identify and implement improvements in safe work systems, processes, and people development through driving daily and weekly KPIs and assigning and managing remedial actions for all adverse performance.
  • Assist with development and management of life critical activities, planning activities, and schedule.
  • Prioritize and issue Safe work Permits for maintenance and contractor works.
  • Preparation and completion of safety investigations and reports as required.
  • Assist with and lead MOCs, group safety reviews, and life critical activities.
  • Develop or revise working practices and procedures to ensure compliance with standards in both safety and environmental areas.
  • Assist in streamlining processes and procedures in Waste Water Treatment and other environmental areas on site.


Education & Experience

  • Higher Diploma in Safety, Health and Welfare at Work or equivalent
  • Previous factory experience and demonstrated experience of working in EHS in a regulated environment.
  • Good IT skills including computer-controlled equipment would be advantageous.
  • Positive attitude to work.
  • Good verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to direct and motivate others and hold people accountable.
  • Demonstrated ability to train others in procedurals work.
  • Knowledge of GMP and demonstrated implementation of GMP regulations or similar.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and demonstrate flexibility.
  • Track record of safe and GMP compliant personal behaviours
  • Willingness to learn new skills and methods.
  • Proactive work ethic and good personnel and management skills.
  • Ability to work independently, multitask, and maintain an organized workplace.
