Post Doctoral Researcher Rinn Artificial Intelligence - Research & Innovation in Data Science and AI (Dept of Music)
24 months, Fixed Term, whole-time Post
Applications are invited for a Post-Doctoral research position Rinn Artificial Intelligence - Research & Innovation in Data Science and AI funded by Research Ireland within the School of Computer Science and Information Technology and this position will be hosted by Dept of Music in UCC.
This role is part of a national Centre, Rinn Artificial Intelligence - Research & Innovation in Data Science and AI, a multi-institutional interdisciplinary National Centre for Data Science and AI funded by Research Ireland. University College Cork is a Co-Lead and this position for Post-Doctoral research will sit within the School of Film, Music and Theatre under the supervision of Rinn AI Research Ireland Principal Investigator, Prof. J. Griffith Rollefson.
The Post-Doctoral Researcher will work on an area of research which builds on Prof J. Griffith Rollefson's 2019-2024 ERC CoG project CIPHER: Hip Hop Interpellation (https://globalcipher.org/) and 2025-2026 ERC PoC commercialization grant. This "3rdAI" project is building a hip hop research engine based on a 450,000-track lyrical corpus with specialist-curated AI tools (see 3rdAI.eu and https://globalcipher.org/3rdai/). The unique value proposition of 3rdAI is its "SavvyAI" model - a transferrable and scalable bespoke dictionary and semantic tagging platform curated by domain experts that interface between the corpus and the machine learning aspects of this AI-assisted semantic tagging and fuzzy logic search tool.
The Postdoctoral Researcher on the project will work on a project related to an aspect of the hip-hop-specific 3rdAI tool and/or the multi-domain SavvyAI tool as we commercialize the 3rdAI engine and its highly transferable and scalable SavvyAI platform for the human improvement of trustworthy AI models. She or he will work closely with the project PI, cultural data specialist Prof Rollefson and AI specialist Dr. Shyamasundar LB, as well as RINN AI computer scientists and UCC Digital Arts and Humanities researchers.
Achievement of the expected progression within Post Doc and Senior Post Doc is transferable between the Irish HEI's. This can be reflected in the starting pay of a PD researcher. Similarly, as the PD scheme is an intergenerational training scheme completion of PD1 or PD 2 levels in one HEI will normally render that researcher ineligible for appointment at a similar level in another Irish HEI Researcher Career Development Framework | Irish Universities Association
Please note that Garda vetting and/or an international police clearance check may form part of the selection process.
Project: SavvyAI/3rdAI
For an information package including full details of the post, selection criteria and application process see https://ore.ucc.ie/ The University, at its discretion, may undertake to make an additional appointment(s) from this competition following the conclusion of the process.
Informal enquiries can be made in confidence to Prof. J. Griffith Rollefson, Rinn AI Centre - Dept of Music Email: [email protected]
