Role Profile
The position is within an ERC Consolidator Grant led by Professor Catherine O'Rourke (Principal Investigator). The CAREINTLAW project is a 5-year project aimed at understanding how legal systems conceptualise, regulate and practice care across different international regimes. Through doctrinal, ethnographic and prefigurative legal approaches, the project aims to reshape international law, putting care, not just harm, at its heart.
This Postdoctoral Researcher will be one of a team of researchers, including two further postdoctoral researchers, two doctoral students and project manager, all working under the guidance and supervision of the Principal Investigator and with the benefit of an advisory group of international experts.
The research role will entail doctrinal research in international law, including in international environmental law and international trade law; contributing to the development of the project's legal research methodology, instruments and protocols; coding and analysis of legal sources using Nvivo; drafting and write-up. In addition, administrative activities including conference organisation; website content development and maintenance; project documentation and coordination; and report preparation.
This is an academic research role, where you will conduct a specified programme of research supported by research training and career development under the supervision and direction of the Principal Investigator.
The primary purpose of the role is to further develop your research skills and competences, including the processes of publication in peer-reviewed academic publications, the development of funding proposals, the mentorship of graduate students along with the opportunity to develop your skills in research-led teaching.

Salary Scale:
IUA Postdoctoral Researcher Salary Scale - Point 1: €47,273.
Appointment will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and in line with current Government pay policy.
